One day i decided i was fed up of shaving as i had to do it practically every three days in order for my legs to be smooth, and it used to irritate the heck out of my legs. So i had two options...go to a salon and be waxed OR be even more badass and buy a little torture device some people call an epilator. I chose the second option because i was feeling really brave when i ordered it online, however when it arrived i didn't feel quite the same way.
I purchased the Braun Silk Epil 7 and as soon as it was delivered i popped it on charge ready to be used. I then jumped in the bath and had a soak to help open my pores, before exfoliating with some scrub to avoid ingrowing hairs. I then got out of the bath and epilated dry.
The pain was quite bad, I'm not going to lie! It was a quick sharp pain but wasn't something that made me want to cry or scream, it was just very uncomfortable. It did leave areas of my legs hair free however it didn't get everything which was the worst part, as it meant i had to try again the next day. I definitely feel after a couple of goes i have a much better approach to it, and i had a better success rate of hairs removed. I'm hoping the pain will subside after repeated use, and i think i will only improve with the amount of hairs i remove.
Overall would i recommend it? YES! You can save a fortune on hair removal as razor heads aren't cheap, and salon waxing isn't either. It also can last up to six weeks before you need to epilate again which is perfect during the Summer or on holiday! Once you get past the pain you can definitely appreciate the results.
I'm yet to try my underarms though...
Let me know your opinions on epilating in the comments and if you have any tips!
Thanks for reading Xx

I usually epilate between waxes to make them last a little longer but think I need to invest in a new epilator as mine is getting a little old! Try taking a pain killer half an hour before and make sure to stretch ur skin to make the surface as flat as possible when you're epilating! I would never shave again!

Thanks for the tips!! I'll definitely try them out and hopefully it will make the process more pain-free haha! Xx
DeleteI've never considered epilating but knowing that the results last up to six weeks it sounds great. I get fed up of shaving twice a week in the Summer. Thank you for sharing your experience with us it is so helpful.

I got fed up of shaving too so I definitely prefer epilating for how long lasting it is! Glad you found it helpful :D xx
DeleteWonderful post...I like your blog.^^

Love that this lasts 6 weeks but I'm put off with the pain haha x

Haha i totally know where you are coming from! However i am slowly getting used to the pain from it :P xx
DeleteYou are a brave girl! I tried it once and I only got half way up my leg before giving up! Are you going to do it all year round or just in summer?

Haha thanks! I think I'm going to do it all year round because I reckon it would hurt really bad if I skipped it during winter and then started again :P xx
DeleteI've tried an epilator before and I just couldn't take the pain! Strangely enough I'm okay with waxing though!

I've never tried waxing so I can't compare the pain. I'll have to try it sometime! Xx
DeleteI remember my first time epilating SO well.. The pain!! I've since switched to IPL but would consider going back to the "little torture device" if the hair grew back :') x
ReplyDeleteHaha! I've never tried IPL but it does sound really good xx
DeleteYour braver than me! I bought an epilator and attempted to be bad ass but the pain was just too much, especially as it never picked up all the hairs. I'd like to try it again though, probably with a different brand though. I'm a shaver... self-waxer when I can be bothered.

I find that it doesn't pick up all the hairs too which is annoying. The epilator i have also comes with a shaver head so you could always check that one out, as then it can be still used for something if you decide you still can't deal with epilating xx
DeleteI've epilated twice, and omg the pain!! I think it's worth it though. I did my underarms, and that as mega pain, but no shaving for two weeks was worth it. xx
ReplyDeleteThat's why I really want to try my underarms because it would be so good to go two weeks without shaving but I bet it hurts so much! Xx
DeleteI have this exact epilator and love it!! It works really well and actually lasts a long time compared to shaving! It keeps my legs hair free for a good 4-6 day's, however like you I haven't used this on my underarms haha! I NEVER will as it's so painful! Even on the legs, it becomes bearable after you get started but ouch! xx

Haha glad I'm not the only one who is scared to attempt the underarms! I agree that the leg pain becomes bearable, but I just don't think the armpits would lol xx
DeleteI've always been too scared to try these 'little torture devices' :) I don't think I'd be too good with the pain but the not shaving for a couple of weeks makes me want one. Maybe one day!

Haha I was scared too! :P But yes it is longlasting xx
DeleteI remember when I epilated my legs for the first time and I actually nearly cried! It made my eyes water sooo much! I much prefer waxing to epilating - although I wish I could get on with it because it would save me a whole lot of dollar! :( Great post! xx
ReplyDeleteI've never tried waxing so maybe I would find that nicer! But I know what you mean, epilating does save a lot of money! Xx
DeleteThese are total torture devices, they hurt so much haha. I want one to use in the shower (if it exists) as I think it'll hurt a little less.. I do love how much longer it lasts though. Just takes plucking the courage to use it xx
ReplyDeletewww.throughneweyesx.com
The epilator i have can be used in the shower as it is a Wet or Dry one, so have a look for one of those :) i think it probably would hurt less as the pores would be more open. xx
DeleteI've always been tempted with an epilator but I'm not sure after reading some of the other girls comments above, eek!
ReplyDeleteHaha i totally understand! I was so scared to try it out, but i am slowly getting used to it now xx
DeleteI really want to try epilating because I hate shaving but I'm too scared!
ReplyDeletewww.wheresmylipstick.com
You can do it haha!! Maybe try someone else's first if a family/friend has one and then you could see if you could cope with it before you spend out xx
DeleteI think I need to try epilating to see what it's like but it does sound a bit scary haha
ReplyDeleteHaha it is pretty scary to be honest!! Xx
